Put something down to catch it and call us. If it's pooling above a light fixture or in a ceiling cavity, shut off power to that circuit. Don't go on the roof yourself. Once the ice channel is opened, the interior leak usually stops quickly.

It stops the current one, by giving the trapped water somewhere to drain. It won't prevent the next one — that requires addressing the attic heat loss that caused it. We'll tell you what we saw.
